043 - Cupcake / fluffy cloud / paper flower / macrame plant / bumblebee

Yayyy! It's Friday, the end of another week and almost time for relaxed family fun. Now that the dark and cold of winter have lifted, there is only one thing to do. Celebrate spring, of course. That's what our activities this week are all about. We are celebrating growth and new life. Here are Friday's five activities to keep the kids busy.

  1. Bake cupcakes and decorate with lambs and daffodils, or even just make bright spring coloured icing. BBC good food has a great cupcake recipe.

  2. Make a fluffy white cloud in a jar. This STEM activity celebrates springtime little fluffy clouds. Coolscenceexperiments HQ has a full set of instructions and a video to show you how.

  3. Make paper cut out flowers with different coloured paper and tissue paper. Have the kids make a flower in a pot and then identify the different parts of the flower.

  4. Make a macrame plant pot hanger. This can be as simple or as difficult as you like depending on the age of your children. You can also dye the different macrame colours for added activity fun. Fondulac district library has produced a video instructional easy enough for any kid to follow.

  5. Bumblebee mason jars. If you have any old mason jars or vases lying around, they can be used. If not, you can buy some relatively inexpensively from a high street shop we all go to for sponges and end up spending £500. I heart arts and crafts has a great one for inspiration and instructions.
