040 – Petting zoo / flower rubbing / wigwam / meringues baking / book reading

Good day parents, it's Tuesday, and The Daily Kids has another five activities to inspire you for things to do with the kids. This weeks theme is springtime activities to help us reign in the dawn of spring and celebrate the end of the long dark nights, finally. Let's dive right in.

  1. Take the kids to a petting zoo, the weather is better, and the kids love seeing and petting the animals. Check google for your nearest petting zoo that's open as some may still be shut to the public.

  2. Flower rubbing. The daffodils are blooming, the air smells a little fresher, and the dark, oppressive winter air feels lighter. Pick some daffodils and do some wax rubbings. Now you have a Spring picture for the fridge and maybe some lovely flowers in a vase to brighten up your kitchen.

  3. Build a wigwam. When you're next out walking, collect some long sticks and use them to build a wigwam in the back garden. You can cover it with a sheet for picnics or leave it as an open wigwam for making mud pies. The kids should see this has an instructional video on how to do this.

  4. Bake some meringues and use them to make little birds nests. BBC good food guide has a good meringue recipe.

  5. Read a book all about spring and the changing of the seasons. And Then it's Spring is a great kids book, but there are lots out there for different age groups.

Make sure you never miss a daily dose of ideas by signing up to the The Daily Kids newsletter.
